“Alpenmosaik Montafon” (Alpine Mosaic Montafon) is the name of a new initiative Montafon is launching to give its diverse natural environments greater visibility and tell visitors more about them. “Alpenmosaik Montafon” includes the vibrant valley, the laid-back Verwall mountains, the glacierdotted Silvretta mountain range, and the Raetikon massif on the border to Switzerland and the principality of Liechtenstein.

A website provides information on what to discover where, especially along hiking trails. On themed trails and during guided BergePlus activities, hikers can go into full regional “immersion” mode. www.montafon.at/alpenmosaik

The research logbook is available at the local tourist office in Hirschegg. Starting in the 2022 summer season, nature explorers can join their marmot friends Burmi and Burmina on their discoveries in Gemsteltal, where a themed trail on “Wildlife: Understanding wild animals” waits to be explored. During the summer of 2022, the themed trail “River stories: Following the Water“ along the Schwarzbach river will be newly added. www.kleinwalsertal.com

“Over the Border” – Cycle-Audio Route from Lake Constance to Silvretta
Initiated by the Jewish Museum Hohenems, the history-rich cycle path has been created from Bregenz to Partenen and at selected places in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. 52 listening stations symbolise border stones and invite you via QR code to get involved in the history of refugee fates of the respective place. The background to the cycle path is the thousands of refugees – persecuted Jews, political opponents of the Nazis, deserters, prisoners of war, forced labourers and foreign workers – who tried to reach Switzerland from occupied European countries via Vorarlberg between March 1938 and May 1945. The opening is on 3 July 2022. www.jm-hohenems.at
