Quinta do Lago will be the centre of attention for the global golf industry for the third year in a row when Europe's leading contemporary luxury destination resort stages the 2016 World Golf Awards later this year.´
The prestigious golf tourism event will return to the award-winning Algarve venue from November 11-13, 2016, giving delegates the chance to enjoy one of the world's most vibrant lifestyle experiences.
Quinta do Lago's significant recent upgrade to its sports, leisure and lifestyle facilities is part of a six-year investment program, which has included the €9.6m redesign of its North Course by renowned American architect Beau Welling in close association with European Ryder Cup winning captain Paul McGinley.
As well as offering a weekend of unrivalled networking opportunities, guests can take advantage of the resort's numerous five-star facilities including its three award-winning championship golf courses – the South Course, Laranjal and North Course, winner of 'Europe's Best New Course' at the 2014 World Golf Awards.
Quinta do Lago followed up its success at the inaugural awards ceremony by being named 'Europe's Best Golf Venue' at the 2015 World Golf Awards, and chief executive John Dwyer is delighted that the resort has the opportunity again to showcase its new luxury facilities to a global audience.
Dwyer said: "It was a real privilege to be involved for the first two years and it's fantastic that Quinta do Lago will play a leading role with the World Golf Awards for a third year.
"Hosting the event continues to boost the interest and enjoyment of our resort. We have been fortunate to enjoy some very positive years, with a lot of exciting things happening at Quinta do Lago, including the re-opening of the North Course, and the World Golf Awards is another achievement that makes us proud.
"It is a huge honour and opportunity for us to showcase our five-star facilities to some of the respected figures in the golf industry."
Attendees at the 2016 World Golf Awards will enjoy 18 holes of golf on one of Quinta do Lago's three championship golf courses on Friday, November 11, before following their round with a networking dinner.
The Third Annual World Golf Awards Classic competition will take place the following morning before this year's winners will be unveiled later that evening at a glittering gala ceremony at the Conrad Algarve.
World Golf Awards managing director, Chris Frost, said: "It is an honour to be returning to Quinta do Lago as the resort has been instrumental in the increasing popularity and success of the event.
"The Algarve remains the centre of the golfing world, and it was no surprise when Portugal took the title of World's Best Golf Destination for the second year in succession in 2015, with Quinta do Lago being voted Europe's Best Golf Venue. With voting set to open in just a few days, I'm sure the resort will be one of the leading contenders for further honours this year."
Quinta do Lago's three golf courses championship courses – Quinta do Lago North and South and Laranjal – are matched by outstanding practice facilities, with the state-of-the-art TaylorMade Performance Center and a recently-opened short-game area, in addition to the resort's Paul McGinley Golf Academy.
