The country is a sought-after destination for beer lovers from around the world. Thanks to its long brewing tradition, diverse experiences, and the connection of beer culture with history and local traditions, it is becoming the center of so-called beer tourism. This trend is confirmed by the growing number of visitors as well as new beer products that not only offer tastings but also cultural and historical experiences. For example, the Radegast Brewery in the Moravian-Silesian region recorded a 188% year-on-year increase in tourists last year, with 19,600 visitors.

The popularity of the Brewery Museum in Tábor, the Velké Popovice Brewery in Central Bohemia, and the Budějovický Budvar Visitor Center also significantly increased in the past year. Key beer-related sites in the Žatec area have also seen a notable rise in visitor numbers.

"Czechia has exceptional potential in beer tourism due to its long history of brewing, unique breweries, and the current trend of experiential and sustainable tourism. Our goal is to show that beer tourism can be not just about tasting great beer, but also about discovering Czech culture, traditions, and history. Domestic breweries offer experiences that combine tradition with modern innovations, which is key to attracting high-value tourists," says František Reismüller, Director of the Czech Tourism Agency – CzechTourism, adding: "Good food is an inseparable part of good beer. Czechia offers a unique combination of excellent dishes and a cold glass of frothy beer. The blue logo on the doors of certified restaurants guarantees quality, which we have personally tested as part of our CzechSpecials project. The list of certified establishments of the highest quality includes several breweries and microbreweries across the country."

Beer tourism in Czechia is also gaining international recognition. One of its highlights is the tour route at Plzeňský Prazdroj, which in March this year won the prestigious award in the category of Europe's Leading Beer Tour Visitor Experience 2024 at the 31st edition of the World Travel Awards 2024. It surpassed some of the most famous breweries in the world, including Ireland's Guinness, Belgium's Stella Artois, and the Netherlands' Heineken. Hundreds of thousands of visitors, both locals and foreigners, visit it annually, further confirming that Czechia is an attractive tourist destination.
